The Cassina Refolo is a modular system featuring simple, essential volumes. Created by Charlotte Perriand in Tokyo in 1953, this sofa system remains as current today as it was during its initial release. With its height set at an ideal level, the horizontal surface is composed of 19 parallel strips of wood in either natural or black stained oak, supported by two or three legs. The padded seats are ingeniously integrated using a simple anchoring device, allowing for easy placement. This basic shape grants the sofa system the ability to occupy any space that needs a dynamic seating implement.
Refolo Sofa Materials
Several wooden pieces constitute the Refolo of Cassina's base. Its top consists of plywood panel oak veneered with massive wood edges that come in a transparent half-matte, half-open pore lacquer finish. The legs come with half-matte, half-open pore polyurethane lacquer as well.
