B&B Italia Shelving Description
Flat.C, the shelving system by B&B, is a project by Antonio Citterio created to satisfy the contemporary need to have storage units in our homes that have ample storage capacity but with minimal dimensions.
B&B Italia Flat C was born from some questions and reflections on how needs have changed over time, on how contemporary habits and new lifestyles require a new concept of furniture, objects and elements able to respond to what we can define new modern routines.
How will the domestic space of the future be reorganized? What about the new systems and new furniture compositions to be inserted in your home environment to extend the perception of your living space? These are just some of the questions that guided Antonio Citterio in the design of a new B&B Italia shelving system, able to respond impeccably to the problem of functionality and containment thanks to an intelligent use of space.
B&B Italia Flat C Features
The main objective of B&B Italia Flat C is to obtain a flexible structure where it is possible to foresee an infinite number of configurations. The different compositions are based on a modular grid that organizes the elements and components, binding their proportion. Everything is well-calibrated and designed to satisfy every type of need and to create solutions that best suit the different rooms of the house.
What makes this B&B Italia shelving system truly unique is the versatility that allows it to be positioned in areas of limited space. Flat C in fact has a depth of only 25 cm and at the same time is able to house books, ornaments, the television and all the hi-fi equipment occupying the smallest amount of space possible.
Another feature of B&B Italia Flat C is the extremely reduced thickness of the shelves and sides, to make the final composition of the wall system even lighter and more minimal. The visibly joined parts create an open, reconfigurable, reassembled and harmonic system, capable of expressing a new way of occupying space and following the evolution of the Multimedia systems.
Moreover, in this B&B Italia shelving system there is a total absence of visible joints: this characteristic gives life to a project that does not impose itself in the environment, but that elegantly solves the functions for which it was designed.
Flat.C Wall Unit Materials
B&B Italia reserves a really wide selection of materials. There are many shades of lacquer available, starting with more neutral colours, such as satin turtledove, white, beige or grey to a palette of brighter and more vivid tones. As far as essences are concerned, it is possible to choose oak in a chromatic scale that goes from the lightest to the darkest shades. Another finish in the B&B Italia Flat C catalogue is metal, in particular anodized aluminium in steel or black, used for the profiles of the doors, shelves and structure.
It is possible to use glass for the doors of the various storage compartments, to obtain greater movement in the composition, an effect of full and empty spaces and a constant play of reflections. The glass is available in different colours: pearl white, bronzed reflective, painted bronzed reflective and black.
